The Light Brothers
A pair of brothers, Ronnie and Larry, that had only 3 releases, all on different labels.
A billboard reference March 14, 1960 references them signing with Canadian-American, a label that released their first 45 in 1960. as "Light Bros. (Larry and Ronny)" with songwriting publishing going to Davidson County, BMI. Eddy Arnold might have. The cat45 listing claims "recd. RCA Studios, Nashville Feb 25, 1960, producer : Eddy Arnold."
In 1961, they released a 45 on Dot as "The Light Brothers" with songwriting still on Davidson County, credited to G. Nash.
Their final release in 1964 on ABC-Paramount comes several years later, with the B-side song "Berry Hill" being a Ronnie Light penned original. An ad in the Aug. 1 Billboard from that year states "Larry Light, half of the ABC-Paramount Light Brother duo, is currently on a basic training tour for Uncle Same in Columbia, S.C. ....Brother Ronnie is hoping for releases as a single artist while Larry is in the employ of the Army." No releases by Ronnie Light as an artist seem to exist, however as he pivoted into production roles.
Ronnie, often spelled Ronny, Light moved into several roles over the next few decades in the music industry. A newspaper article in 1967 references him playing guitar for Skeeter Davis, whom he then begins to produce at least in to the early 70s. He wrote several songs for Skeeter, as well as George Hamilton IV. His production and engineering credits accompany his own vocal and talent credits. His service to the industry is reflected in membership in the local NARAS chapter, which awards the Grammy.
